Try using the same lighter on ANYTHING, a glass, pen, pop can, etc. It will always leave the black soot. It&#8217;s simply unburned carbons.<\/p>\n<p>What is Soot?<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;a black powdery or flaky substance consisting largely of amorphous carbon, produced by the incomplete burning of organic matter.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Soot \/&#8217;s?t\/ is impure carbon particles resulting from the incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is more properly restricted to the product of the gas-phase combustion process but is commonly extended to include the residual pyrolysed fuel particles such as coal, cenospheres, charred wood, petroleum coke, and so on, that may become airborne during pyrolysis and that are more properly identified as cokes or chars.<br \/>\nhttp:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Soot<br \/>\n&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8211;<br \/>\nWHY DOES IT NOT MELT?<\/p>\n<p>It is melting. The water is just absorbing back into the snow taking up air spaces between the less dense flakes. In other words&#8230;.. SLUSH! lol<\/p>\n<p>This process is called <strong>Sublimation<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8216;Fake snow&#8217; in the south?
